What Are Classic Lash Extensions?

Classic eyelash extensions are subtle-looking extensions created with a simple technique. During a professional application, the technician attaches one classic lash extension fiber to each healthy lash. This results in lash extensions that are long, natural, and defined but without a ton of volume or density.

Classic lash extensions are considered more natural and subtle than volume and hybrid lash styles. However, the lashes used for classic extensions are thicker than the ones used for volume, so there is still a definition and glam factor.

Different Styles of Classic Eyelash Extensions

You can achieve all sorts of styles with classic lash extensions. Each one has a slightly different effect on the eye and may flatter some eye shapes more than others.

  • Natural lashes refer to a style that mimics natural lash distribution. That means there might be some subtle and varied lash length variation for a look that's not too symmetrical or stylized. This look is extremely flattering for all eye shapes.
  • Cat eye is a lash style where the lashes are longer at the outer corner of the eye and become progressively shorter towards the inner part of the lash line. It's a glamorous look that can help pull the eyes upwards and outwards. Although it can flatter most wearers, it’s a great option for round or downturned eyes.
  • Doll eye is an eye-opening lash technique. Doll eye extensions are sometimes called open-eye or round-eye lash extensions. The lashes are longer near the center of the line and shorter near the corners of the eye. This style helps the eyes look larger and more rounded, so it’s great for those with small or almond-shaped eyes.
  • Staggered lashes have a varied length distribution, mixing short and long lashes. Depending on how it's distributed, it can create a wispy or edgy spike effect.
  • DIY lashes are not exactly a lash style, but they are a quick and affordable way to achieve home extensions. They're designed in segments that attach effortlessly and allow you to be your lash stylist.

Benefits of Classic Eyelash Extensions

If you are considering classic eyelash extensions, these are the main benefits you can expect:

  • Classic lashes offer a subtle definition perfect for a more natural style. They’re ideal if you’re worried about volume or hybrid sets looking too extreme.
  • Classic sets are more affordable than hybrid or volume sets when getting professional lash extensions.
  • Classic sets can be quite lightweight and are often very comfortable for beginners.
  • There is a lot of room to customize and adjust your look, even with classic lash extensions.

Lilac’s Classic Lash Extensions

Lilac St. creates DIY lashes that make it easy to achieve the look of classic lash extensions at home. They’re made of segments that adhere from the bottom of the lash-line for a strip-free, undetectable look. With special adhesives that keep them attached for days at a time, DIY lash extensions are a convenient, low-maintenance alternative to lash extensions that’ll help you save while looking your best.

We always prefer to bundle fine lashes together, so technically, our lash designs are more reminiscent of very subtle volume lashes. If you long for the softness of a volume set but the subtlety of classic lashes, They’re the perfect compromise.

Dawn

For the most delicate classic lash look, our Dawn DIY lashes are the best option. They deliver natural, soft glamor without any excessive touches. If you gravitate towards classic lash extensions for a more natural look, we know you’ll adore them. Each lash segment has three little knots of a few wispy, criss-crossing lashes. This results in an airy feel and some definition.

Originals

For slightly more definition, try our Lilac St. Originals. Their fibers are evenly spaced with a little bit of crisscrossing. They’re slightly denser than our Dawn lashes but still have the defined effect that classic lash extensions create.

Feather

If the effect you're after is dark and defined, our Feather lash extensions deliver. They're made with dark black, noticeable fibers, much like a thicker classic lash. With some overlapping at the very center of each lash segment, they still deliver some soft volume and depth, with a featheriness thanks to a bit of length variation.

French Lace

With tiny clusters of mixed-length lashes, our French Lace extensions have a soft staggered look. The fibers are ultra-fine and collected in 3D clusters, so while they're more reminiscent of volume lashes, they still have the subtlety of classics.

Prism

Prism is a beautiful multi-dimensional design for those who want soft, fanned-out lashes. The lash bundles on each segment create a lattice at the base, which makes the lashes seem darkest and most defined near the lash line. Then, the soft flaring at the tips adds airiness while maintaining the definition we associate with classic extensions.

How Long Do Classic Lash Extensions Last?

Professional eyelash extensions usually last three weeks before requiring a touch-up, which is about a week less than volume lash extensions, which need to be refilled every four weeks.

When wearing DIY extensions with a classic style, one application can last for up to ten days, especially when applied with an adhesive like our Lilac St. Pro Lash Glue. Once you’re ready to remove your DIY extensions, you can clean them up and reuse them repeatedly!

Tips for Applying Classic Lash Extensions

Want to become your lash artist? Here are our top tips for applying classic DIY lash extensions at home:

  • Always start by considering the shape you’d like to create. Choose a classic lash style that will suit your eye shape.
  • Create your lash map in advance with the help of a silicone surface like our Lash Pad.
  • Apply lash glue to your natural lashes and the DIY segments for longevity.
  • Using an applicator, apply the first segment under the underside of your lashes. Start with the outer part of your lash line and work your way inward.
  • Attach the segment about 1 mm away from your lash line.
  • Use the applicator to press your natural lashes and the DIY extension segment together to fuse them.
  • Once you’ve applied all lash segments, don’t forget the Crystal Coat to seal and remove stickiness.
